Throughout the week, I post jobs on my Twitter account. And, at the end of the week, I like to post the jobs here – allowing for more detail. To the best of my knowledge, these jobs are real and the companies are legitimate.

Remember: work at home jobs go fast – there is a ton of competition. So get your application in soon.

Work at Home Leads – Week Ending June 15, 2013

Apple is looking for At Home Advisors to solve customer problems, resolve technical issues, and provide an excellent customer experience. This position is a work at home job with one of the biggest computer tech companies around, and you will be supporting many of their products: the IPhone, IPad, and MacBook to name a few. Apple cannot stress enough the importance of quality customer service, so make sure this is your line of expertise. As an At Home Advisor, you will have to go through five or six weeks of online training, which is on a fixed schedule. Although there is no flexibility in the training, there is some in the work hours: they want people to work between the hours of 5:00 a.m. CST and 11:30 p.m. CST, including flex time allowed on weekends.

Varsity Turots, a private tutoring and test prep service, is looking to fill two positions:

a full-time, City-Wide Director of Tutoring. This position will work directly with the Regional Director managing the tutor base, selling to new clients, and ensuring the existing clients continue to receive outstanding tutoring service. The skills required for this position are basically the same as for all home-based jobs: you need to be honest and reliable, you need a quiet environment, you need self discipline. Additionally, you are required to have previous experience running for-profit tutoring centers. ***Because this is a full-time position, benefits such as health care coverage and a computer allowance are given.***

a part-time recruiter to work 5-15 hours per week. HR management or recruiter experience, a flexible schedule, and excellent judge of character are some of the requirements of this position. Your responsibilities will consist of evaluating teaching skills of potential employees, assist in the hiring process, and related paperwork.

Best of luck to you !

In a recent research study released by Pew Research, working mothers – who have children under the age of 18 – are either the sole or primary source of income in 40% of households. And to break this down further, there are two groups of bread-winning moms: 1) 37% of these moms have a higher income than their husband, and 2) 63% are single moms.

It’s interesting to note that the earning gap between the two groups of moms who work is enormous. According to the research, those in the group who earn more than their husbands have a combined median income of nearly $80,000.00. Those in the group consisting of single moms have a median income of $23,000.00.

I can only assume that the type of job held by working moms is irrelevant in this study. Whether these bread-winning moms work at home, or commute to a so-called ‘traditional’ job, the fact is they work.

So Why This Trend in Working Moms as the New Breadwinners?

This is a difficult question to answer, but I have three thoughts on this:

When I worked a corporate job, at least 50% of my co-workers were women. 75% of those women were single moms, and the remaining 25% were one half of a working couple. Realizing that different job sectors may reflect different stats., it is still obvious (to me) that women are taking on the work world quite successfully.

Based on my personal experience (as well as others I know), the economy has dictated which one of us has the greater salary – me or my husband.

Moms recognize their need to contribute financially to the household.

According to the study, here are some of the key findings:

Both groups of breadwinner mothers, married and single, have grown in size in the past five decades.

The total family income is higher when the mother, not the father, is the primary breadwinner.

Married mothers are increasingly better educated than their husbands.

Most people reject the idea that it is bad for a marriage if a wife out-earns her husband.

Today’s single mothers are much more likely to be never married than were single mothers in the past.

Never married mothers have a distinctive profile.

There are Doubters

Although it is widely recognized that moms who work are a boost to the economy as well as add to the overall financial health of the family, there are those who believe this is not a preferred trend for a family as a whole. Not only in the sense of care for the children, but the strain it may have on a marriage. While these are understandable concerns, no one really knows the affect a working mom has on her household until she gets out there and gives it a go for a while.

Even though much of the data used in the report is from 2011, including the most recent census report, I honestly don’t anticipate the 40% figure going down. If anything, there will be more moms being the main financial provider of the household.

I don’t see this trend coming to an end anytime soon. I expect employers will have to learn to adapt to meet the schedules of working moms.

The simple answer to this question: Probably.

The lengthy answer: It depends on YOUR definition of a Work At Home Job and what you seek

do you want work that you do in your home, such as a freelancer or perform simple tasks (micro jobs)

or…

do you want a job where you work at home as an employee.

Let Me Explain

If you are considering freelance work, or earning extra money doing quick jobs, then a resume is not necessary. Well…at least a resume in the traditional sense. Assuming you’re familiar with freelancing and micro jobs, and the many websites available to show off your skills, you know that a profile is required. And it is your profile that sells your skills to get the gig. So, similar to a resume, your profile should be complete and honest.

If your goal is to be a work at home employee, then a resume is your employment lifeline.

So…in This Sense, You Need a Resume For a Work at Home Job.

Tips to Writing a Resume for Your Work at Home Job

As with a traditional job, a well written resume is an essential part of gaining work at home employment. The competition is tough. The jobs are scarce. You need to stand out from the crowd.

Don’t just dust-off your old resume – polish it up a bit. Your skills may have changed. Your interests may have changed. You need to reflect this in your resume.

Spelling and Grammar Issues should be addressed and corrected. You’re sure NOT to get the job if there are excessive errors – excessive meaning more than one or two. Don’t risk having your resume ignored. Use your word processor’s spell / grammar check. Have a friend or family member read through it. Read it out loud – you’ll be amazed at how good – or bad it sounds.

What if you have gaps in your work history? This is a common issue, especially for moms (or dads) who took time off to raise the kids. Include this in your resume – the time frame as well as the reason for the gap. I have read some articles suggesting you should title your employment gap as “Family Manager”. and listing the skills involved as “lead organizer”, “head of transportation”, etc… Personally, I wouldn’t do this. Sure, the time spent raising your kids was important, hectic, and required a lot of skill, but don’t flower-it-up. Be straight and to the point. Call it what it is. You have a gap in your employment because you stayed at home to raise your kids. The rest of your resume should pull the weight – especially if you have recent education, kept abreast of your industry, and sharpened your skills.

Because you have been home with your kids, you know all about self-discipline, strong work ethics, and the necessity to meet deadlines. These are sought-after skills of all companies, and expressing these skills on your resume are vital.

Tailor your resume to the job you are applying for. Emphasize your skills that relate to the specific position. Even though this means you will have multiple resumes, at least you will have a well-written statement of your goals, skills, accomplishments, and what you can bring to the table.

Do you sometimes find yourself frazzled…overwrought with seemingly outrageous expectations…trying to retain your sanity as you attempt to get through a few hours of work? Working at home is not all it’s cracked-up to be. Between the kids, the dog, and the day-to-day errands, trying to get through the day’s workload is often a difficult task.

Don’t get me wrong, though. Personally, I wouldn’t change a thing in my routine. To all that life has to offer, I say “bring it on!” That’s right, I love this life and I have gained some success working online. Of course, things weren’t all that rosy in the beginning when I first started this endeavor of working at home. There were hassles. There were trips to the Doctor’s Office in the middle of the day. There were personal appointments that couldn’t be changed. And there were hungry kids who needed to eat at a regular time.

I got through the distractions by acknowledging the fact that there are smart ways to work from home. Ways in which my level of sanity did not dip below the point of wanting to burst out in tears under the immense load of stress.

What I Have Learned Along The Way And Over The Years:

Backup and Scan…Constantly
My laptop is my life. It is my workhorse. It is always on and always ready for my nimble fingers. On three occasions my laptop has fallen victim to a virus, and each time it meant loss of work and money. It was a hard lesson to learn, but the experience has taught me to backup my files AND do virus scans frequently. These two things are not something we always think about, but when you’re attacked you’ll be glad you have a backup.

Allow Yourself To Be Lazy
I’m not suggesting you let things slide, I’m just saying you deserve to delegate some of the tedious tasks. It is so easy to find a virtual assistant – one who doesn’t cost an arm and a leg – to take care of some of your spreadsheet work, phone calls, etc. A personal favorite source to “hire” someone to pick up your slack: ODesk.com

Utilize Technology
There are so many tools to automate your work you’d swear you gained a few hours in your day. I use my phone for so many office-y duties it’s too bad they weren’t invented years sooner.
In particular, I use the following phone apps:

Dragon Dictation – a voice recognition that allows you to easily speak and instantly see your text or email messages. They claim it’s up to five times faster than typing on the keyboard., and based on my typing ability I believe it.

Fancyhands – if you need someone to do a quick job for you, check out fancy hands. Acting as your personal assistant, you schedule a specific task for one of their team members to do for you. The app is free, but there is a monthly membership fee.

Evernote is by far the best phone app, in my opinion. Using cloud storage, you can record voice memos, take notes, create lists…organize your entire day.

Have a Dedicated Work Space – With a Door
This may not be possible for everyone, but an actual office offers so much more that just a place to work. It is your sanctuary during business hours. It is your place of business. It is where the big decisions are made. And being able to close the door is a must when working in the home. Whether you want to close if for privacy to get some work done, or to keep eyes off the clutter, a door is almost as important as the space itself.

Organization is Key
Who wants to spend unnecessary time searching for something that should be at your fingertips? Why put your clients through the wait time while you scrounge through your files? If you’re typically not an organized person, now is the time to become one.

Schedule Some YOU time
Let’s face it, we all deserve some time off even if for a short period of time. Productivity suffers when we don’t allow some down time. Get out of the house and take a walk. Get a manicure. Go to the gym. Whatever you do, make sure to do it for YOU. Take time to breathe and smell the roses – you’ll thank yourself later.

I urge you to give these ideas a try. Your work is important, and so is your sanity.

This post was most likely scraped without our knowledge. To read the original post, visit <a href="http://www.ewomanweb.com>Our Blog Here.

I thought I would try something new, starting today. As you may (or may not) know, I post newly-discovered jobs on my Twitter account. These jobs are the kind you can do at home, remotely, and online…depending on how the particular company words it. And, most importantly, these work at home leads are with legitimate companies who are serious about hiring. If you wish to get straight to the open jobs, scroll down this page to skip the chit-chat.

My Twitter posts are short, as that is the nature of Twitter, but I do give a little “teaser” about the job along with a link to it.

So why this post?

I have come to realize that sharing the jobs on Twitter may not be enough. I want everyone to know the availability of these jobs – everyone who is seeking a home-based position. Whether it is on a contract basis or an actual employee position.

Reminder: the categories listed on the right of this blog lists companies who frequently hire home workers.

Ok…so why are we different, you ask?

Good question ! I have noticed that I have a lot of competition in this realm. There are many, many (many!) blogs and websites that list work at home jobs. The majority of said sites are well done and contain great info. The problem I have found, however, is the generic nature of the feed that their job listings are derived from. They’re all the same. Word for word. There is no personal touch.

So here’s my swing on providing something a bit new. With more of a personal touch for you.

Understand that these jobs won’t last. So get your application in soon ! And, to better clinch the job, spruce-up your resume.

Resources

Build your resume to suit a work at home job. There are some great tips here. Crafting a resume to fit a home-based job is not too different than that of a traditional job, but there are some things to consider, as identified within this article.

How much are you worth? Although I try to indicate the salary offered for each of the leads listed, it is not always possible.

Well crap, today started out like every other day until you found yourself joining the ranks of the unemployed. You’ve been canned. Sucks, I know. What now ? After going through the full spectrum of emotions, you realize something must be done. A new job ? Sit and mull it over for a while ?

I’ve Been There… Three Times.

I recall each of those days all too well. They were all the same: starting as normal as usual when my boss came into my office, quietly closed the door, and gave me the news. Each time it was an amicable break-up. No crying, no authoritative escorts to the door, and no burning of bridges. And, thankfully, no super long meetings with HR. I accepted my severance pay and went home to ponder my future.

Throughout my career, I was grateful for each job I had. I was genuinely thankful for the opportunity to work for the companies that hired me. But once I was canned I wanted to leave as quickly as I could. Many good-byes, phone numbers and e-mail exchanges, and warm wishes passed along. Yet I was chomping at the bit to get out of there. I was done. Ready to accept my fate. Ready for it all to sink in.

Looking back, I realized that each occurrence had warning signs. The frequent closed door meetings. The downward gaze of management who – I later realized – were aware of my impending doom. And let’s not disregard the request to share my knowledge with other co-workers.

Meeting of the Ends

It has been six years since my last lay-off. Within a week of that cold Day in February, I became the newest member of the work at home world. I initially tried my hand at freelancing – with mild success – allowing me to help pay the bills. I was obtaining long-term clients, I was having fun, and I was able to fulfill my desire to be in total control of my career.

Then tragedy struck.

A year after my last job loss, my husband was diagnosed with cancer. Yep, the big yucky “C-Word”. My freelance work came to an abrupt halt. He was #1 as work was put aside. I lost my clients. I lost my income. The “not knowing” of many things was almost overwhelming. Thank goodness for family and friends.

My husband is doing well now, so I won’t bore you with the details, but it was a career altering life change. For him and me. He is now retired and I continue to work at home. I didn’t go back to my “old” freelance type of work. Nope, instead I developed this blog as a means to help others.

How My Job Loss Allowed Me To Engender Gratitude

I’ll admit, not being gainfully employed was a strain on our finances. All things considered, though, we came out the other end (almost) fully intact. I learned many things during the entire process, and I allowed myself to accept all with an open mind. I tried not to feel sorry for myself, even when times were extremely stressful. Heck, I even learned to be flexible when it came to meal planning (I was a “you’re lucky I cook at all” kind of person).

I retained my dignity, and I believed in myself.

I realized that things happened for a reason. In my personal situation, I realized that losing my job allowed me to care for my husband. It would have been very difficult to do so while trying to hold a full-time job.

Most importantly, I learned to be grateful with what I had. I learned that gratitude could result from a job loss as new doors would be opened. I let those doors open and accepted the opportunities.

Even if my husband had not gotten sick, I bet a million bucks I would still be doing what I am doing now. Those open doors I mentioned…well, they still would have existed and I still would have scouted out my opportunities.

Your situation and life’s circumstances may be different from mine, but take this to heart. When a job loss happens, look at it like an opportunity to do what you truly want to do. Whether it is a new career choice with a different company, the spark of a business idea, or the chance to simply stay at home doing “fun” home-based jobs, realize that this is your chance to accept new challenges and be grateful in the turn of events handed to you. Job loss can engender gratitude.

Have you ever fallen into a rut and you feel like there’s no way out ? Unfortunately, we all tend to fall victim to these unproductive soul-suckers. Well, perhaps that is a bit much, but in all honesty ruts do suck the energy right out of me. Did I just hear a collective “Me too !” ?

Ruts suck. Especially when you know there is a job to be done. You know you need to be productive. You know you need to spend your time in a more valuable manner. But the thought of continuing with the same old, every day, mundane routine is not appealing. We may ask ourselves how to get out of a rut, and often we just let time take care of it for us.

Are you really stuck in a rut, or are you just, ummm, lazy? There is a difference.

Being stuck in a rut is not typically a permanent situation, though the actions associated with it are usually routine and somewhat permanent. The feeling that comes with routine is what I consider the actual rut.

Laziness, on the other hand, is when you make the decision to procrastinate. You know what needs to be done, but you don’t feel like doing it.

Routines and Ruts

Like a car stuck in a mud rut, you can move a little bit forward, a little bit back, but you can’t get out. You are trapped in endless monotony. The daily minutia drags you down.

You wake up, shower, eat breakfast, go to work (whether it be at home or elsewhere), have dinner, spend valuable family time, and prepare for bed so the entire routine can start again a few hours later. All these aspects of your daily life are the routine. When you feel trapped, stuck, exhausted, and bored with the routine, you are in the rut.

But how can you dig yourself out of this mind-set?

Here are my 14 ways to get out of a rut:

Change up your routine. If you’re like me, many things have to be done at specific times. But there’s sure to be a few things you can switch around. Can you take your lunch break an hour earlier? Can you deal with client #1 before client #2 ? Think about what you can do to change it up a bit.

Reward yourself. You deserve it. Recognize the progress you have made and give yourself a pat on the back. Anyone for a mani/pedi ?

Dress the role. If you work at home, dress the part of the business (wo)man you are. Don’t work in your p.j., dress as though you’re working one-on-one, face-to-face with a client.

Tackle the hard project first, instead of last. For me, getting the big stuff out of the way makes the rest of the day fly by. And I get the added benefit of satisfaction in completing a difficult job.

Challenge yourself. What is the one thing you have been wanting to accomplish, but kept putting it off ? Do it today.

Allow things to flow naturally. Be patient and let things fall into place. Sure, you may have deadlines to meet, and the pressure is on, but take a deep breath. Remember to stop and smell the roses.

Turn off auto pilot. Put more effort into your work. Go the extra yard to reach your goals.

Remember your goals. Why you are doing what you do? Don’t loose sight of your goals.

Mingle more. Instead of hanging out with the same group of friends all the time, get out and meet new people. Take the opportunity to network and build new relationships.

Take frequent breaks. Go for a walk, go shopping, read a few chapters of a good book, or just sit on the couch and watch a little tv.

Forget about perfectionism. You may strive to be perfect, but in all honesty, it’ll never happen. Do the best you can, providing great service to your customers, and be happy with that.

Recharge your battery. Take a quick nap in the middle of the day. You’ll love it !

Break the Bad Habits. Now is the time to stop the habits that hinder your performance. Do you put off till tomorrow what should be done today? Do you take shortcuts because you just don’t want to do the “bad” jobs?

Stop making excuses. The sooner you realize you must do certain things, the better off you’ll be. Adjust your way of thinking to accept the fact that some parts of your routine are just cannot be changed.

I have been stuck in a rut many, many times. But it is up to me, and me only, to pull myself out of it. If you find yourself in a rut, take a good hard look at yourself and figure out which of these steps can help you.

Teaching is so rewarding. If I had to select my career path over again I would be a teacher. Not only for the sense of personal accomplishment of instilling knowledge, but for the self-gratification of the student.

As an educator you will soon be faced with the school year drawing to a close. What to do with your time… Forget about work for a while and enjoy your time off ? Get a part-time job to supplement your income ? Chances are, you are wondering how you can pull in a bit of cash during the impending summer months.

Teaching English – as a Second Language – From The Comfort of Your Home

Although English is not the primary language spoken in many countries, it is a desired language to be learned. Companies located oversees send their employees to their USA based operations. Students from other countries are coming to the USA to further their education. Along with these transitions come the need to learn English as a second language. Conversation skills and proper pronunciation are important to reach goals in a person’s personal and professional life.

Combining the use of web tools and your English teaching ability, you can be the educator for those seeking to learn the language or brush-up on their existing English knowledge.

How to Get Started

The number one skill you must possess is native speaking of the English language. Additionally, proper pronunciation and the ability to demonstrate English sounds are vital skills. It’s important to mention the pay and work may not be as consistent as your “regular” teaching job. You can expect anywhere from $10.00 – $12.00 per hour of work. As for the amount of hours in the day you work, well, that is up to the company you work with as well as your schedule. I have noticed that there is a lot of flexibility in setting your schedule, so the more you work, the more money you can make.

Teaching English Via Skype ??? Hmmm…Sounds Interesting.

But what is Skype?

Skype is for doing things together, whenever you’re apart. Skype’s text, voice and video make it simple to share experiences with the people that matter to you, wherever they are.

An easy to use platform, you can share information just like you’re meeting one-on-one. You can teach English with Skype by using your phone, computer, or TV…an easy method to efficiently and effectively communicate your lesson plans.

Check Out These Tutoring Companies That Utilize Skype to Teach English

Same Speak
As a Personal Conversation Coach, your sessions will last 30 minutes and you will earn $10.00 for each session (into your Paypal account).

Hello English, Inc.
This is an English conversation school that started in 2011 (I believe). They are currently looking for fluent English speaking tutors to give online classes. Knowledge of Japanese language or culture is very helpful but not necessary. The pay is $12.00 per hour.

Verbal Planet
Set your hours and your rate. Each tutoring lesson lasts 45 minutes. Here is a link to more detailed info.

You Can Also Teach English with a Web Cam and Headset

Some English tutoring companies have not made the move to Skype yet, so they continue to utilize the web camera / headphone set-up. Basically, you connect with your students with these two items – visually and audibly. This allows you to teach as though you and your student are within a regular classroom.

TutorABC.com
Tutor Group

Basic Requirements, Regardless of the Webinar Platform:

Webinar Software, such as Skype, Adobe Connect, Webex

Web cam and headset

Skype compatible headset

Strong internet connection

A decent computer

Audio and Video Distractions Must Not Interfere !

No pets, television, people, or outside noise should be heard by your student(s), therefore a dedicated office with a door is ideal.

You should set up your office so the background viewed by your student is plain. Light colored walls without pictures allow your students to concentrate on the lesson not the background.

I encourage you to expand your teaching career and give this a try.

“The kids are home, the dog is barking, and that stupid television seems awfully loud. Are there any jobs for moms in a noisy home ?!?”

I feel your pain. Trying to work in a noisy home can be so difficult. Not to mention frustrating. And that’s assuming you passed the interview process. Who’s going to hire you with all the background noise?

It’s no secret the majority of jobs are in the customer service field. Real people rely on your service, and you spend most of your working time on the phone providing that service. If you have a dedicated office then you’re ahead of the curve; you can enjoy a little quiet time to do some work. But we all know how short-lived quiet time is. let’s face it, jobs that require you to be on the phone are not a good choice if you have a lot of activity in your home.

So what are our choices? Here are a few ideas:

Transcription
There are some companies who hire “beginner” transcriptionists, with little experience. Keep in mind that you will likely have to take a skills test before being hired. Quicktate, Scribie, Speakwrite, and Verbal Ink are a few general transcription companies who consider beginners. Medical transcription requires more expertise, but if you have the background then apply for jobs with these companies.

Writing Articles for Blogs
If you have an interest in writing, this can be a profitable job for you. Chances are great you will have some deadlines to meet, but if writing comes easily to you then you should be able to whip out a few articles between your day-to-day tasks.

There are a few ways to go with your writing talent:
1) Start your own blog with the hope of earning an income. This is a tried-and-true method of earning money online, but it takes time. You need an idea that interests you, a blog, and some good ‘ole knowledge in developing your blog. Here’s a great read on how to get started with a blog.
2) Write articles for some of these companies
3) Write blog posts for others. Check out ODesk and Elance to set up a profile that “shows-off” your talent. Apply to requests for blog writers and snag that writing gig.

// ]]>

Smart Phone Mystery Shopping
Using your smart phone, you can take mystery shopping into the 21st century. You can use your phone to shop, submit reviews and photos, and get paid. Although this is a simple way to make money, you can do it on your time. Here is a selection of legitimate phone-based mystery shopping gigs.

Virtual Assistant
This area of work encompasses a huge array of duties. Think about what type of work you did in your past: Were you an executive assistant? Are you proficient in spreadsheets and word processing? Can you perform internet research? Consider working as a virtual assistant with one of these legit. VA companies, or starting your own VA business.

Computer Tech / Programming / IT
There will always be a need for IT professionals / computer specialists. Additionally, Computer Programmers, Website Developers, and App. Developers are in high demand. Here is a list of companies with such positions.

Freelance
It seems that freelancing sometimes gets a bad rap. As a freelancer, you are self-employed and you are not necessarily committed to one particular company. For many, being self-employed is the scary part. The thought of taxes and the IRS coming down on them being the number 1 concern. The idea of having to advertise your skills and gain clients is a close second. I can see why many choose not to freelance, but it really is not as difficult as you may think. If you follow the IRS rules for the self employed (pretty easy to do) and use freelance platforms such as Odesk and Elance, then your fears should be set at ease.

The huge advantage to freelancing is the fact you can do what interests you most. Assess your skills, talents, and desires and start making a living.
